Where is the Bee? Animal ABC and Repeating Pattern Design
The little stories behind each illustrated animal:
A for Anteater - inspired by an anteater mum with her baby in Zurich Zoo
B for Bear - an animal everyone loves but so many are frightened of
C for Cat - inspired by our little black cat Tarsi, we rescued in Fuerteventura
D for Dolphin – discovered this dolphin on a boat trip around the Grand Canary Island
E for Elephant – elephants are social and can recognise themselves in a mirror
F for Fox – when I was a child we were told to be very cautious when spotting a fox because of rabies
G for Giraffe – an animal I only know from the zoo but looks very fascinating with its long neck and legs
H for Hare – an animal I often feel uncomfortable to draw
I for Iguana – are those vibrant colours really real?
J for Jellyfish – How would we feel about them if they had sweet eyes and faces?
K for Koala – dedicated to the koalas of the wildfires in 2020
L for Lion – still unsure if I would be brave enough to visit this animal in the wild
M for Mouse – this mouse is in love with muffins and cheese; illustrated for fun for a doodle challenge
N for Nuthatch – a beautiful bird that can move downwards in a tree
O for Owl – In love with their shapes and sweet eyes
P for Panda – an animal I would love to see in real once
Q for Quokka – looking at this animal brightens up your day in a second
R for Rhinoceros – unfortunately, this wonderful animal is threatened with extinction because of their horns
S for Sheep – in cooking school I used to draw sheep in half of my cooking book
T for Toucan – a miracle of nature
U for Unicorn - send me an email if you know where to meet them :-)
V for Vulture – scary and fascinating at the same time
W for Whale – probably not only the heaviest but also the longest animal that has ever lived
X for X-Ray Fish – a fish with a translucent body, discovered this fish when creating the Sealife ABC Tea Towel
Y for Yak and little dragon Yimo – little dragon Yimo is one of my very first characters on my way as an illustrator
Z for Zebra – did you know that there is a seahorse, which looks like a zebra? You can also find it on the Sealife ABC Tea Towel
